Editor's Pick: Cantilever Much? The Stackable R House - Architizer

Building: R House

Architect: Colboc Franzen et Associes Architecture

What We Like:

A family of five call this Jenga-like structure in the suburbs of Paris?home. What was originally an orchard and gardeners shed has been converted into a three-section house that cleverly divides space between home amenities, common areas, and the children?s bedrooms. The top floor, which holds the children?s quarters, is wrapped in pine that both bows to the neighborhood aesthetic and playfully echoes a tree house . The main floor features floor-to-ceiling windows that let in sunlight throughout the day, while capturing panoramic views of the surrounding garden area. The stacking scheme shade the interiors, while also forming several small terraces and larger patio spaces, where the family may dine, play, or lounge. Read the complete project description here.
